Nightmare Before Christmas Stockings!

The story of my life is to come up with new homemade items for my friends and family for Christmas. Some years inspiration hits and other years i'm scrambling to find ideas days before Christmas. Luckily this year I knew exactly what to make my friends, Nightmare Before Christmas minimalistic Christmas Stockings!

For my Best Friend, Kelly, I made her a Sally Stocking. Sally took the most time to make mostly due to her multi colored dress and hand stitching the whole stocking.

Next up was for Kelly's Boyfriend, James, who I made a Oogie Boogie stocking. Also hand stitched
My friend Taylor absolutely loves Oogie Boogie too so I made him one as well.

And lastly was my friend Tyler, who wanted a Zero Stocking.

Im pretty happy with how these stockings came out and I hope to be able to (some time this year) make myself a NBC stocking with Lock, Shock, and Barrel (my favs!) and I will probably make my wonderful Boyfriend a stocking as well hopefully one that will match my NBC stocking but most likely a Yoshi or Mario stocking but only time will tell.

And just because I have more pictures of these stockings i'm going to photo bomb this post!! Muwhahahahahahaaaaaa!!! PHOTO BOMB!!!

OOGIE BOOGIE! RULER OF THE LAWN!!!

I hope everyone is enjoying my posts, feel free to comment or email me. I do have an Etsy shop and I am working on filling up my shop with new and exciting creations. I also take custom orders, just shoot me an email and I will get back to you soon.

Giddy Up Little Horsee!

So what do you make for a niece that is spoiled so much she didnt want anything for Christmas? It took quite a while to come up with it but I thought "Hey! She is always asking for a purple pony, I can do that!" Thus the brilliant plan was born! I would create her an old fashioned Hobby horse. I wanted to make one that was going to be her friend and she could play with. What I came up with was this.
Forgive the horrible pictures, unfortunately the house was full of children and relatives with just no room (or clean space) to take some semi decent pictures. I am pretty happy with how the horse came out and the pictures dont really do her mane justice. It is thick with at least five different yarns, plus tulle and some other kind of material I dont even know what it is called.

My niece loved her pony. She loved it so much she started to dance around with it. So adorable!

I'm Going to sing the Doom Song now! Doom, da-Doom Doom! Doom!

Doom! I absolutely LOVE Jhonen Vasquez and his work. I love Johnny the Homicidal maniac, Squee, and Invader Zim. But none of those compares to my love of Gir, the little robotic dog on Invader Zim. He is so spastic and adorable and who wouldnt like to have a dog that was green? A couple months ago (wow it is taking me a while to post all my creations these past few months) my friend April called me up asking if I would be interested in making a Gir comforter for her niece for Christmas. My imediate answer was "Heck Yea!!" I had made two Gir blankets previously so it was nothing new.

The first Gir Blanket was for my friend Casey's Baby Shower (Invader Zim themed) and what baby wouldnt want a soft fluffy dog blanket? Hmmm doesnt quite sound right does it? Maybe fluffy soft Gir blanket? Yea, that sounds better :) These are a couple of pictures of that blanket. I made the front with fleece and the back with Joann's Soft and comfy fabric. It was a HUGE hit at the baby shower, everyone was very impressed with it and asked where I bought it. Everyone seemed to want one at the shower and yet no one contacted me about me making one. Oh well, I didnt really mind anyhow.

The second Gir blanket was for my best friend, Kelly, who incidently is Casey's younger sister. With Kelly's blanket it was substantually larger than the baby blanket I had previously made. This one had to be at least a full size blanket and honestly when I bought the supplies I had done some major mathmatical errors. Turned out I hadnt purchased enough of the front material to cover it. But with some quick calculations and some alternations to the design it came together very well. I sent it off to Kelly (who lives in California) before I realized I hadnt taken any pictures of it. Luckily she was nice enough to send me a picture of her with her new blanket. This blanet was made with a flannel top and a soft and comfy backing (I just love the uber softness of it!!)
So that takes us to the third Gir blanket that I made! By this point I wanted to try Gir in a different position or something different with the structure of the blanket. So I chose to make him sitting down and all excited (as he usually is). The front is made from cotton with all the purple(semi-pink?) squares having stars on them. As per my usual tradition I used the soft and comfy as the backing. I just love soft fluffy fabrics and I love sewing with them. They just make the world a little brighter for me.
I feel like I need to clarify that my closest friends live in California while I live in Utah so there is a lot of shipping involved when it comes to me making gifts for them. With that said April LOVED the comforter. It is soft and fluffy (LOTS of batting was put in it) and these pictures dont really do it justice (they turned out too dark). I havent really heard whether her niece loved it as much as she did but I am only assuming that she did. April's son Taylor actually lives with his cousin and he told me he was going to steal it from her if she didnt like it so I figured I must of done well.

It gives me such an unjustifiable amount of joy to create these blankets for other people. To see the joy on their faces or hear what they truly thought of my work inspires me to continue with my creations. I truly hope that I will never have to give this up, it really is a great happiness in my life.

Halloween

Wow, I cant believe how time flies. It seems like I was just posting some projects of mine the other day but that was way back in August. Since then a ton of things have happened in my life, mostly to do with items I have created. I am a member on www.craftster.org and back in September I joined the 13 Days of Halloween swap, the small swap and the big one. Worst. Idea. Ever. I was sooo swamped and I had all my college courses on top of all the crafting I was doing. But I still managed to get everything done on time (including my essays!) and I am very proud of the creations I made.

I didnt get very good pictures of a lot of the creations but the ones that I did I wanted to share with you so you can be as stoked as I am about them ( sorry a tad bit excitable at the moment)

First up, Nighmare before Christmas Jars!
I found these jars at a thrift shop and they had the perfect shape to make these usable jars!

A little Harleyquin doll. I had a left over body from my Devil's Carnival dolls that I made so I just sewed on her suit and painted on her lips and she was ready to go! Im not very happy that I couldnt get her mask cut out right but after about the 5th try I was just so frustrated I gave up.

Mummy Kitty! She was a blast to make. so easy and so quick too. She is covered with gauze and has a posable tail :)
A cardboard rolled witchy owl. I think considering how I had no clue what I was doing, she came out pretty good. I didnt really know about quilling when I made her, it was months later that I found an easier way of making her.
Four monster mice. I wish I had something for comparison. These mice are about and inch and a half tall and are ready to go bumb in the night.
Classic Horror Movie Poster Coasters! My swap partner absolutely LOVED these!
And the last project for todays post is a set of three Zombie Hankerchiefs.

I really loved making all these creations especially since they are Halloween orientated but next year I think I am going to try just making stuff for me or making stuff to sell in my Etsy shop.

Toothless the Nightfury

My best friend Kelly is absolutely in love with Dragons and even more in love with Toothless from How to Train your Dragon. Thus the challenge began! Now I have never created a dragon before and wasnt quite sure how to proceed in making one, soooo I cheated and found a pattern already made on Deviantart.
Behold! The Completed Dragon!!! Love him in all of his glory!!
I made him for Kelly's Birthday which is in August so I still have plenty of time left over before her big day :)
I misplaced his wings a little to far back but you dont really notice it unless your looking for it and all in all for it being my first dragon and the pattern I used i am very happy with him :)

My First Commission!

I'm so excited! I got my first commission a couple weeks ago and I finally finished up what she wanted me to create! Its nothing to complicated but it will still hold a special place in my heart since it is my first commissioned piece :) She wanted some World of Warcraft Horde bedding but was on a budget. She gave me how much she could spend and what she wanted and I tried my best to make it with in that amount. Shockingly I actually was able to make what she really wanted and still stay in the price range.
Here is the completed project. I made a fleece throw with the Horde emblem on them along with two pillowcases ^_^ Im so excited about the whole thing that it is actually encouraging me to make more things for my shop on Etsy!!!

I hope she is as excited about recieving it as I was about making it!!

Scrump!

This is Scrump! I made her... but her head is too big, so I pretend that a bug laid eggs in her ear and she is upset because she only has a few more days to....
Scrump gave me some difficulty to make, her head was a giant obstacle ironically lol. This was the 5th pattern I had drawn up and created and seemed to be the closest my frustrated mind seemed able to handle at the time. I'm pretty happy with her considering where I started out with but I still think her head is a little too square and her body a little too full.
I decided to make her after finding out that you could only find her in Japan and it would cost at least 30 dollars for a really simple Scrump. I am going to come back to her pattern in the future and refine her appearance so it is more accurate, I'm still a little too frustrated to work on her at this moment and I have a lot of Halloween crafting im doing this year plus a lot of Disney things that I have been waiting to make so i believe all my frustration will be let out by the time I get a chance to adjust her pattern.
